| Ben Thompson | TEDxBirmingham Speaker & First Responder
🔻 { Connecting to Communicate } 🔻 conversation this morning with fellow TEDx Speaker | Ben Thompson | turned out to be heartwarming, filled with laughter and even a few tears, as I listened to him. Ben and his partner, Brian Blakes (I will share the video of my conversation with both partners next Tuesday), are deeply invested in the program | Birmingham Fire and Rescue C.A.R.E.S. | . While I was listening and conversing with Ben, I was reminded of all the times we worked together to prepare for the big day | TED❌Birmingham 2018: Before❌After | back in March. I am thankful for our continued rapport and look forward to any future projects to work on together to make Birmingham better and better. Friday, 14 September 2018.

Clarification: During TEDxBirmingham 2018 rehearsals, I was informed to not walk around or move. Therefore, I stood rooted to the red dot the entire talk. The reason was that the camera crew had to work hard angling several cameras on me to provide the audience a way to better understand what I was saying on the close-up screen above and behind me. The audience got to experience the impact in the message of my own TEDx talk in terms of lipreading, watching facial expressions and body language, and paying attention.
