🔻 { Connecting to Communicate } 🔻 conversation with fellow TEDx Speaker | Javacia Harris Bowser | was full of good-hearted catching up and laughter. I could not help but admire Javacia's zest for life. My brother Brad, who served as an Ambassador for TEDxBirmingham 2018 to help support my talk, commented how he also wanted to listen to her talk, because she included in her bio that when she was little, she wanted to be the President of our country when she grows up. His comment made me pay more attention to how much Javacia has been doing for the community of Birmingham on top of teaching English at Alabama School of Fine Arts, writing articles for journals, and leading women through her website, See Jane Write. She was honored for her excellence including 2016 Southern Living Magazine list of "Innovators Changing the South," Top 30 and Top 40 of other two prestigious lists, and Girls on the Run's "Women Who Inspire." Even with all she has been doing along with being recognized, Javacia remains loyal to being a friend to anyone she meets. I am beyond blessed to be working alongside with her throughout the speaker preparation process, because we share a love for writing, teaching English, and Christian faith, along with our February birthdays only days apart.
