What a semester...it felt the shortest I have ever taught and yet probably the best, since the students worked with me as I was determining how to change my teaching methods to enhance their learning. They took everything in stride, even writing more and more in response to the prompts. The past month zipped by, yet steamrolled over me with hundreds, if not thousands, of pages to proofread, comment, and grade. Still, I steadfastly took my time to read each and every student's writing...because each word written matters.

Yes, each word matters.

Part of my teaching philosophy is to instill value and purpose in each and every student. And, that is through their writing.

The worst part is that the semester is over, and I do not have any more words to read, to connect with the students. Now, I feel empty as a teacher. However, I have other things to focus on before the next term begins. We will see what happens, because I do not know what happens next.
